Identitywa’s beginnings were humble in size but big in vision.
Identitywa began as a self-help group, Catholic Care, in 1977 when a group of parents saw a future in which their children received quality care and greater acceptance from their parish communities.
The determination of these founding members captured the imagination of the Perth Catholic Archdiocese who provided strong support to these pioneers. This support enabled the organisation to flourish and became an official part of the Catholic Perth Archdiocese in 1981.
Catholic Care was renamed Identitywa in 2001. Over the following 40-plus years, we have grown into an agency that now supports over 550 individuals and their families. We continue to build on the founders legacy of a strong foundation with our focus firmly on providing highly personalised support to people with all types of disability.
