Identitywa’s bespoke specialist disability accommodation officially opened by Minister for Disability.

“It’s heart-warming that thanks to Identitywa’s foresight, Identitywa participants will have the opportunity of living in a home built especially for them.” Family member, Annabel Mazzella
Increasing the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) asset pool in our State is vital to meeting the needs of people with disability is an initiative that Identitywa is strongly committed to.
It was a great delight to invite the Hon Don Punch MLA, Minister for Disability Services; Small Business; Fisheries; Seniors and Ageing to officially open the first two new Identitywa houses on Thursday, 20 January.
“The availability of SDA across Western Australia is key to ensuring eligible people with disability can exercise choice and control when accessing their housing entitlements under the NDIS,” said Minister Punch.
“Projects such as these two state-of-the-art Identitywa SDA houses in Cloverdale are an excellent example of how providers are driving the development of new SDA housing and helping to grow the pool of properties across the State.
“Congratulations to Identitywa on your leadership building innovative housing that supports people with disability with complex needs to live their best lives.”
As one of WA’s leading disability support agencies, there has been a significant commitment by Identitywa to increasing housing opportunities for people with disability. This will be realised with further developments over the next three years.
“Our collaboration with Geared Construction, Halton Design, and Proven PM has resulted in these two outstanding, high-quality houses, which will meet the individual needs of the young men calling them home,” said Identitywa Board Chair Graeme Mander.
“They include large living spaces, well connected outdoor areas, alfresco space, and water-wise garden areas, to name a few features.
“I would like to thank Minister Punch for making himself available to open the homes and also take this opportunity to thank all the people dedicated to this project enabling such a successful outcome,” said Graeme.
“Working together with the new housemates and their families, we are very pleased to offer these homes which will provide both an attractive and comfortable living environment.”
Family member Annabel Mazella, said her family is delighted her brother, Sandro, will be able to enjoy the fun of moving into a new house and have a place he can call his own for many years to come, thanks to the house’s liveable design.
“We appreciate all the efforts by those involved to make sure Sandro and his housemates are ready for the change, to personalise the room layouts and colour schemes, and show us around the building site during construction,” said Annabel.
