For over 48 years, we have worked in collaboration with participants and their families to support people to thrive. Identitywa’s beginnings were humble in size but big in vision.
In 1977, a group of parents saw a future in which their children with disability received quality care and greater acceptance from their Catholic community.
The determination of these founding members captured the imagination of the Perth Catholic Archdiocese who provided strong support to these pioneers. This support enabled the organisation to flourish and became an official part of the Catholic Perth Archdiocese in 1981.
Catholic Care was renamed Identitywa in 2001 and we have grown into an agency that now supports over 300 individuals and their families. We continue to build on the founders legacy of a strong foundation with our focus firmly on providing highly personalised support to people with all types of disability.
Today, we see a future in which all people with disability live with a sense of purpose, a sense of belonging and a sense of wellbeing.
In 2025 Identitywa transitioned to Identitywa Disability Services Limited, a company limited by guarantee, to enhance our governance and ensure long-term sustainability.
