The seven housemates hosted a special afternoon tea for their families and staff, and Father Nino Vinciguerra was invited to bless their home which is a tradition when Identitywa opens a new house.

In her welcome, Manager of Services, Lee-Anne Brenssell, thanked all involved and acknowledged the work that had been undertaken over the past 12 months to improve the home and gardens.

The blessing included the housemates and their support staff reading in the Prayers of Intercession which referenced each area of the home.

“A house is the setting for many relationships and activities,” said Father Nino.  “In our prayers and thoughts we move through each room, asking God’s blessing on all of the marvelous things – and the mundane – that happen here.”

New staff member, Jenny, recently commenced her position as House Senior.  She has been really impressed by how happy and busy everyone is.

“The people sharing the house are all encouraged to contribute in the day-to-day tasks of running a home.  They are also actively supported to connect in all sorts of activities in the community which is wonderful,” says Jenny.

The event was a great success with everyone really enjoying the chance to look around and to share some delicious afternoon tea.
