Announcement of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability
From the CEO
As one of WA’s largest disability support agencies, providing a safe and respectful environment is at the heart of all that we do. We welcome the Federal Government’s announcement of a three-year Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.
Whilst the Royal Commission will be based in Brisbane, it will take hearings all around Australia and the $527.9 million allocated will include enabling appropriate supports for people to participate which is essential.
The Honourable Ronald Sackville AO QC will be the Chair of the Royal Commission. Justice Sackville will be supported by five other Royal Commissioners; Ms Barbara Bennett PSM, Dr Rhonda Galbally AC, Ms Andrea Mason OAM, Mr Alastair McEwin and the Honourable John Ryan AM.
The final report will be submitted by the end of April 2022, with an interim report to be provided by the end of October of 2020.
