Blessing of Identitywa house celebrated
In what has become a tradition for Identitywa, a special blessing is performed for each new shared living house opened and for the people who live there.
On Monday, 2nd October 2017, Father Nino Vinciguerra led the blessing for an eastern suburb Identitywa house which was originally managed by the Disability Services Commission.
In her welcome, Manager of Services, Lee-Anne Brenssell, thanked all who had been involved in the successful transition of support for the women who live there and acknowledged the work undertaken to improve the home.
Mrs Goode, mother of Sharon who shares the house, said it was lovely to be together for the blessing and the afternoon tea which followed.
“I believe Sharyn is happy in her home. She loves joining in, and with her support workers, being involved in community life,” said Mrs Goode. “I am happy that she is happy!” combine paragraphs
Led by Fr Nino, housemates read the Prayers of Intercession which referenced each area of the home, including the front door; Fr Nino likes to include this in his blessing as he believes… “It is the first place of welcome!.”
Identitywa is one of WA’s largest disability support agencies with 36 shared living houses throughout Perth’s suburbs.
