Calling out for ideas

Identitywa is currently working to understand and plan for the future housing and support needs of people with disability.

In March, Identitywa held a workshop for staff which focused on new concepts for housing, including smart technology opportunities.

Identitywa CEO, Marina Re, gave an overview of the current strategic and operational environment impacting this area and asked staff to consider the current challenges to the provision of high quality housing.

Led by Strategic Support facilitator, Alison Blake, various housing models and ideas were discussed based on types of dwellings, affordability, locations, models of support and connection to the community.

“We need to understand what people want and how we can partner to develop workable plans for the future,” said Marina.

Identitywa is now seeking to gather ideas and thoughts about what future housing could look like through a short survey.

“We’d like to know ‘What does a ‘good home’ look and feel like?’, ‘What things does a home need to support a happy and fulfilled lifestyle?” explained Marina.

“As we move into the future, we want to ensure we are offering and providing the range of housing options that people want.  We are really interested in innovative ideas and what people see as current gaps in life-style choices.”

Identitywa welcomes input from people who have contact with Identitywa as well as members of the broader community.
