Christine and her Identitywa Support Coordinator are working to achieve independent living for her

  • Posted on 21 July 2022

When Christine is asked what she wants for her life, she replies: “I want to live on my own and have my own space to do what I want!”

Having lived in a shared home for over 17 years, she is determined to live independently. She is also quite specific about her desire to live in Perth’s northern suburbs, near her place of employment. So, her Identitywa support coordinator, Ben, is working closely with Christine to make this a reality.

“Christine works at Activ in Osborne Park four days a week which she really enjoys,” explains Ben.  “We are trying to find a home not too far away from there.”

“I do like my work,” says Christine. “I am part of a team working on putting together kits for Westrac at the moment.”

When not working, Christine likes to spend time outdoors in nature, going Op shopping and listening to her music.

“I like watching my DVD’s too,” said Christine.

Together, Christine and Ben are also researching future employment options.

“Housing is the priority at the moment, though,” said Ben.  “Christine has lived in her shared home for a long time and really wants to have a place of her own now.”
