Having fun, socialising with others and enjoying the chance to do something different are just some of the great benefits offered to individuals who chose Identitywa’s Meldrum House to have a break.

In addition to Identitywa’s two dedicated houses for children, Meldrum House, offers Carers supporting children aged 16 years and over, options which include a few hours to a few days depending on individual needs and preferences.

“At Identitywa we know that a good break works two ways,” explains Identitywa’s CEO, Marina Re.

“It is about Carers recharging their batteries, and it’s also about individuals having a good time away from home, enjoying new experiences and also some familiar ones too.

“Support workers work with families to ensure that any existing routines and programs are followed and individual activities are tailored to meet the needs of each person, reflecting their interests and preferences,” said Marina.

“Activities offered include a wide range of outings and experiences and also the chance to do things you’d expect to see in a home away from home such as card and board games, playing music and interactive games.”

What the people we support say…

“Our son Brandon has been regularly staying at Identitywa‘s Meldrum House and it has been a fantastic experience for our family.

It’s given us much needed respite and has also prepared Brandon for permanent accommodation in the future. The staff have been very friendly and made Brandon’s stays a pleasurable experience. He always looks forward to his time at the House and catching up with the staff.” Parents

“We foster a young adult man with disabilities who accesses respite through Identitywa. They are a very professional organisation.

Our foster son loves going there, which is a credit to the staff who care for him.   Their communication skills are excellent and I never have any hesitation in contacting them for any reason.   They try their utmost to fulfill our requests. Without this service we would struggle with the full time care of our young man.  It gives him a break from us and vice versa.    Thank you for providing such great care both to him and us.” Foster Mother
