High Tea for Carers
As part of National Carers Week, Identitywa held a “High Tea” for carers on 16th October 2013.
Approximately 30 people came to the event which was held in Manning.
Tables were set with white linen table cloths, and colourful and elaborate fine bone china settings. Each table had on display a Tea menu from which guests were able to select from a variety of teas to enjoy throughout the morning.
Upon their arrival, guests were offered a cup of tea of their choice from the menu and shortly afterwards gourmet sandwiches and warm foods were served and presented on two and three tiered cake stands.
Staff volunteered to assist throughout the morning to ensure everyone was well cared for. This created opportunities for people to meet some of our staff.
Marina Re CEO of Identitywa welcomed guests, and referred to her personal experience observing families caring for a loved one. She also acknowledged the support offered by Carerswa and funding by Lotterywest to support the event
Music played in the background and the atmosphere was, as someone said, “Magic”.
Following the first course there was an assortment of Danish pastries and profiteroles and more tea.
During the course of the morning raffles were drawn. The prizes related to the theme of the event and included tea cups, teapots and a selection of teas.

Guests spent the morning chatting and catching up with old acquaintances and making new acquaintances.
The event finished at approximately 1pm and as each guest was leaving they were given a Gerbera from the multi-coloured display of flowers in the room in addition to a small gift.
The compliments received indicated that those attending felt they were spoiled and appreciated. Some were touched by the fuss that was made of them on the day.
Identitywa will work towards this being an annual event in its calendar and will consider other opportunities for such gatherings during the coming year.
