Identitywa staff support It’s in the Bag Christmas Appeal

A traditional end-of-year initiative for Identitywa staff is to contribute to a nominated Christmas appeal.  This year, staff chose to support the Share the Dignity “It’s in the Bag” Christmas campaign, a new promotion operating across Australia.

Share the Dignity is inviting Australians to donate a handbag they no longer use, fill it with items that would make a woman feel special and even pop a thoughtful note into the bag to show her that someone cares and that she matters.  The idea came to the organisation when they realised that people seem to manage the needs of children at Christmas but the same can’t always be said for those women who put the needs of others before their own. They wanted to make women  feel special.

“We had enough items to fill twenty-six bags, which was wonderful,” said Dorothy Lonergan, coordinator of Identitywa’s donation.

“I was very happy with the response from Identitywa employees.  This initiative really touched people as they could relate to wanting to make women feel special.  We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy project.”

When Sharon Matthews from Share the Dignity heard that Identitywa  had put together 26 bags full of essential items, she was delighted. “Wow!!! That is amazing. Thank you for your generosity!” she wrote.

Identitywa’s bags will be distributed in regional Western Australia.
