Identitywa’s school holiday activities included attending a world premiere theatre production!
“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly.” – Roald Dahl, The Twits
Who would have thought one of Identitywa’s school holiday activities would include attending a world premiere theatre production? It’s true!
For children accessing services at Identitywa’s Children’s House in Riverton, the chance to attend the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s production of Roald Dahl’s very irreverent classic, Roald Dahl’s The Twits, was a real highlight.
Home in Fremantle for the summer holidays until 27 January, Spare Parts’ world premiere season of Dahl’s comedy of ‘two grizzly old grunions’ combines storytelling with colourful puppetry and high energy physical theatre.
Support worker, Karla, who coordinated the outing said the show was fabulous.
“It was so much fun. The children were totally engaged and just loved all the antics of grumpy old couple, Mr and Mrs Twit, who played terrible tricks on each other throughout the story.”
As an extra special treat after the show, Spare Parts invited the children to meet the performers, Geordie Crawley and Jessica Harlond-Kenny, on stage and to see the puppetry up close.
“We love to try new activities and this really was a very special way to spend a morning…for all of us!”
Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is one of the longest running theatre companies in Western Australia and is Australia’s flagship puppetry company.
