Local artist’s talent and City of Melville grant make all the difference
The chance to finish off a recent patio renovation with something colourful and vibrant was the motivation for Identitywa Team Leader, Ann-marie Gladwell, to apply for a grant from the City of Melville.
Ann-marie and her team of support workers support four men living in an Identitywa shared living house in Melville. While the housemates enjoyed the newly decorated outdoor space, Ann-marie felt it needed something special to finish it off.
“I was very thrilled to be successful in getting the grant which paid for the paint for a mural on one of the large walls in the new patio area,” said Ann-marie.
“I put the word out via social media that we were looking for someone who might volunteer their skills to create something special in the space.
“We were delighted when local artist Gary Smith generously volunteered his time to paint the mural. I think everyone would agree it looks fantastic!
“The guys and support staff love it, and it totally enhances the outdoor space, which they now all really enjoy spending time in.
“Thanks so much, Gary!”
