Lochie and his Identitywa support worker, Abi just love spending time together
“Accessing appropriate care and support workers became more challenging as Lachlan grew older. It was our feeling going forward that we needed to find an agency who would listen to us regarding Lachlan’s needs, wants and interests.” Elisha
Travelling on trains, buses and playing in the park are the things that make Lochie most happy when he is with his Identitywa support worker, Abi. He also loves riding in Abi’s car when they are out and about too!
Lochie has been accessing services from Identitywa since 2019. Requiring 1:1 care at all times, it’s really important to his family that they feel very confident he is well supported.
Lochie’s mum, Elisha, said that after speaking with someone who had first-hand experience with Identitywa, she and her husband, Steve, decided the agency would be perfect for them.
“As full-time working parents who self-manage Lochie’s NDIS funding, we rely heavily on a supportive team to assist with Lochie’s care, particularly as he is growing older,” explains Elisha. “Identitywa’s assistance is a crucial part of our lives.
“During the school term, support workers come to our home before or after school and during the holidays we access support at Identitywa’s Children’s Home for short breaks which Lochie thoroughly enjoys,” said Elisha.
Identitywa Support worker, Abi, has loved being with Lochie and is particularly proud of how he has developed over the time she has been supporting him.
“We try to try lots of different activities and have heaps of fun whatever we are doing,” said Abi.
“For example, he has mastered the life-skill of buying his own train ticket which is very exciting. He also really enjoys playing at the park together and riding his scooter. I don’t think he would ever run out of energy!
“I really enjoy supporting Lochie as he has such a beautiful nature and a super contagious smile. He is always so excited when I pick him up from school – that’s enough to put a smile on anyone’s face!” says Abi.
