Quality and Safeguarding focus of NDS WA Forum
Identitywa always welcomes the opportunity to join with other passionate and motivated people committed to further developing better services and outcomes for people with disability.
With the safety of the people we support and our staff at the centre of all our services, it was important for executive managers, Britta Meyer and Lee-Anne Brennsell, to attend the National Disability Services WA Quality and Safeguarding Forum held in February.
A range of topics were covered at the forum including the preparation needed to transition to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards System, investigation and management of safeguards, the certification process and evidencing practice.
“The forum provided a great opportunity to discuss the latest information and insights on the challenges facing managers and leaders of quality management and safeguarding,” explains Lee-Anne.
“During the forum the NDS Safer Services Toolkit was launched. The toolkit is an evidence-based resource which includes tools to improve safeguarding practices in organisations.
“We believe it will be a helpful resource for our staff to meet duty of care responsibilities covering the areas of developmental, preventative and corrective strategies,” said Lee-Anne.
Identitywa is one of WA’s leading agencies supporting people with disability to live the life they choose. With a strong commitment to Person Centred Active Support, staff work in partnership with individuals to explore, plan and design support options to suit their individual needs.
