Stuart is having fun developing his own business
Stuart’s local Men’s Shed, and his dad, Ray, have provided the inspiration for him to start his own business making handcrafted wooden products including pens, letter openers and key rings, which he sells locally.
Ray has been recording every single sale since 2011 so he knows exactly who the buyers are and where each of Stuart’s creations ends up! They have both been busy doing renovations on their home so Stuart can set up his own lathe in the shed. Stuart thinks this is fantastic as he will now have his own creative space at home to make his unique products whenever he wants.
Supported by Identitywa to engage in various activities in his community such as the Men’s Shed, Stuart has also developed friendships with the three young men who live in an Identitywa shared houses. He regularly visits them for a chat and often joins them when they go out for meals.
Identitywa is one of WA’s leading agencies supporting people with disability to live the life they choose. With a strong commitment to Person Centred Active Support, staff work in partnership with individuals to explore, plan and design support options to suit their individual needs.
