Geoff ready to go sailing

For Geoff, turning 70 was a milestone he definitely wanted to celebrate, and not just with a party (although he did that too!).  Geoff wanted to experience a special holiday as a birthday present to himself.

With the assistance of his support worker, Holly, an exciting itinerary was planned which saw him fly to Melbourne in April where he joined the three day Melbourne to Sydney leg of the luxurious Queen Mary 2 world cruise.

“I had a great time,” said Geoff. “I really liked being on the ship, the food was good and it was lots of fun meeting new people and going on day trips.”

Geoff spent four days at the end of the cruise in Sydney visiting attractions including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo and Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, which he thought were all fabulous.

“I also spent a day at Home and Away in Summer Bay,” said Geoff.  “And I met Alf!” Geoff loves watching Home and Away.

Geoff had a truly memorable experience and when he got home, had great fun sharing all his stories and photos with his housemates and the Identitywa staff who support him.

Identitywa is one of WA’s leading agencies supporting people with disability to live the life they choose.  With a strong commitment to Person Centred Active Support, staff work in partnership with individuals to explore, plan and design support options to suit their individual needs.
