They say music makes the world go round…
For Identitywa housemates and the staff supporting them, music definitely made their world happier on Wednesdays!
They were all participating in a music therapy program held at St Maria Goretti Catholic School in Redcliffe. The program was made possible through a successful application for a community grant sponsored by the City of Belmont.
“Our music facilitator was Anna Tang,” explains Identitywa Planning Officer, Helan Pereira.
“Anna is a music therapist who encourages people to express themselves and engage with others through music. “In our sessions we all had great fun using items such as drums, sticks, triangles and ribbons.
“Music therapy provides an environment where individuals can socialise and communicate and just have lots of fun together,” said Helen
“We are very grateful to St Maria Goretti for kindly providing and setting up their library for these sessions.”
Identitywa is one of WA’s leading agencies supporting people with disability to live the life they choose. With a strong commitment to Person Centred Active Support, staff work in partnership with individuals to explore, plan and design support options to suit their individual needs.
