WA NDIS Up and Running
Today marks the start of both the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the Perth Hills and the WA NDIS My Way scheme in the Lower South West.
The national and state models will run concurrently for two years, after which the pros and cons of each will be assessed.
People living in Swan, Kalamunda and Mundaring councils will gradually be invited to participate in the Perth Hills trial. Dates when people in particular suburbs will be able to access the Scheme are detailed in this Fact Sheet.
To see if you’re eligible to join the NDIS trial, go to: myaccesschecker.ndis.gov.au
The WA NDIS My Way trial will run in the Shires of Augusta-Margaret River, Boyup Brook, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Busselton, Donnybrook-Balingup, Manjimup and Nannup.
A information campaign about the scheme is currently running across TV, radio, print and online, but for a quick overview, see this Fact Sheet.
Those people in the Lower South West who are already working with My Way Coordinators will automatically transition to WA NDIS My Way. However, new eligibility requirements mean that more people will be able to access supports, in particular those with early intervention needs and psychosocial disability.
