Announcement of nationally delivered NDIS
Today, in a joint media statement released by the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan, it was announced that Western Australia is to join the nationally delivered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as from July 1, 2018.
“This announcement will now finally give certainty to people with disabilities and their families about the future arrangements for disability funding in WA,” said Identitywa’s CEO, Marina Re.
“As always, we are committed to ensuring we provide the high quality services for the people we support and their families. We have been preparing for the possibility of a national NDIS model and our staff are ready to assist and are well placed to advise people seeking to access funding through the NDIS for the first time.
We look forward to working with the Department of Communities and the NDIA to ensure a smooth transition process over the years leading to the full rollout.
